Bookstub vs StoryGraph: keepsakes or charts
StoryGraph is a reading tracker known for charts, mood filters and machine-learning recommendations, with a Goodreads import. Bookstub tracks fewer numbers and makes more of each book: a stub, saved lines and a weekly receipt. It keeps data on your phone and recommends nothing.

What is the main difference?
The StoryGraph listing leads with insight: charts of reading habits, personalized recommendations and discovery by mood. Bookstub leads with the book itself. Its free tier covers logging, streaks and your stubs, while the Pass unlocks more designs, bigger bingo cards and full stats.
Competitor facts were checked on October 10, 2026 against the US App Store listings. Apps change, so verify before you commit. Bookstub is made by the publisher of this site, is in development and is not on the App Store yet, so it has no rating and no listed price.

What does StoryGraph do better?
It answers "what should I read next?" and "how do I read?". The listing names charts and graphs, recommendations that adapt to your preferences, mood and pace filters, and a Goodreads import that maps custom shelves to tags. It was released in 2021, has about 3,600 US ratings and runs on iOS 14 or newer. Bookstub has none of those.
What does Bookstub do better?
It is private and tangible. Books, logs and lines stay on the device and are encrypted, with no analytics. A stub prints for each finished book, lines turn into share cards, and the weekly ledger prints a receipt of pages and minutes every Sunday at 18:00. A streak that survives a missed day keeps the habit gentle.
Who should pick which?
- Choose StoryGraph if you want data about your reading and help choosing the next book.
- Choose Bookstub if you want a quiet diary, saved quotes and a ticket for each finished book.
- Moving between them is possible through CSV files.

Frequently asked questions
Does Bookstub have as many stats as StoryGraph?
No. Free shows books and pages. Bookstub Pass adds full stats, which are still a smaller set than a dedicated stats tracker.

No. It does not recommend books at all.
Can I bring my StoryGraph data over?
If you can export a CSV with titles, authors, dates and ratings, Bookstub can import a CSV. Check the columns first.
Is Bookstub free?
It is planned as a free app with an optional Pass. See pricing.
