Best reading tracker apps for iPhone

By · Updated · 2 min read

The best reading tracker depends on why you track. Goodreads is the biggest community. StoryGraph leans on stats and mood-based recommendations. Bookly adds a reading timer. Margins adds streaks and distraction blocking. Bookstub keeps data on the phone and prints a stub per book. This guide compares them as of October 2026.

Which reading tracker should you pick?

For friends, reviews and the largest library, Goodreads. For detailed stats and recommendations by mood, StoryGraph. For a reading timer and custom ratings, Bookly. For streaks, vibes search and app blocking, Margins. For a private log with shareable keepsakes and no account, Bookstub.

Competitor facts were checked on October 10, 2026 against the US App Store listings. Apps change, so verify before you commit. Bookstub is made by the publisher of this site, is in development and is not on the App Store yet, so it has no rating and no listed price.

Bookstub: a log that prints a keepsake

You log the page you reached, and the percentage follows. You save lines up to 280 characters under colored tabs, keep a streak that survives a missed day and print a stub for every finished book. Reading goes to the weekly ledger, and friends join pacts through links with no accounts.

Limits: no recommendations, reviews or social feed, and no timer. It is in development, iPhone only. Data stays on the phone, and a book search sends your search words to Google Books or Open Library.

Goodreads, StoryGraph, Bookly and Margins

Goodreads describes itself as the world's largest community of readers, with recommendations, reviews, a Reading Challenge and a barcode scanner. StoryGraph lists Goodreads import, charts, machine-learning recommendations, mood filters and reading with friends. Bookly lists a timer, page tracking, goals, reminders, reports and custom ratings. Margins lists goals, stats, streaks, a vibe-based search and blocking of distracting apps while you read.

Can you switch trackers without losing your library?

Mostly, yes. Goodreads exports a CSV, and StoryGraph and Bookstub both import one. Follow the steps in how to export your Goodreads library on iPhone.
