A receipt for your week, a stack for your month
Bookstub summarizes reading in three printed shapes. The ledger is a Sunday receipt with pages, minutes and days read. The stack is a month of finished books piled up. The archive is a year of story cards that opens on December 1. All three are filled from your own data.

What is in the weekly ledger?
The ledger is a receipt for one week. It lists pages, minutes, days read, books touched, lines kept, rest days used and your streak, and it ends with the line Thank you for reading. You can page back through earlier weeks.
A new one prints every Sunday at 18:00 if you turned that notification on. Pass adds a long receipt with per-day bars.
Tapping the share button turns the ledger into a tall receipt image, with the footer, link and QR code that every shared item carries. Pass users can switch to a minimal footer, but the name and link never disappear.
What is the monthly stack?
The stack piles the stubs you finished that month, spines sideways, with the month name and totals such as 3 books and 842 pages. The notification arrives on the last day of the month at 18:00, and only if you finished a book.
On the free plan the first three stubs show sharp and the rest stay hidden until you add Pass. Choose books lets you leave any book out of the stack and the archive.
The stack is meant to look like a photo of books piled on a table, with spines sideways. Their colors come from the inks you chose, not from covers, so a stack of ten looks tidy and not cluttered. The count under the month name changes as you hide or show books.
What is the year archive?
The archive is a story sequence of eight cards: a cover, books and pages, the longest and shortest stay, your most used tab, the line of the year, your best month, streak records, and the full stack. Every card exports at 9:16.
It opens on December 1 with a notification. The free version shows three cards and previews the rest.
The line of the year is one you pick yourself.
Is any of it written by AI?
No. The text is a fixed template filled with your numbers, for example the number of books and pages, or the title of the book you stayed with longest.
What do the stats screens add?
Stats shows books and pages for free. With Pass, it adds average days per book, your rating spread, the time of day you read and your pace in pages a day over the last 30 days.
The stats screen carries a label such as 2026, annual ledger, and shows the free numbers in large type: how many books you finished and how many pages you read. A blurred preview of the paid numbers sits underneath with the line See all stats with Pass, so you can see what is there before deciding.
Free or Pass?
The ledger is free. Stack and archive are previews until Pass. Stats are partly free. Logging, streaks and stubs stay free regardless.

Can I look at the current year before December?
The stack views include a year so far option, and the stats screen shows a running annual ledger with the year in its label. The full eight-card archive is the part that waits for December 1, because a year is only a year once it ends.
If you import a Goodreads or StoryGraph library, your finished books for the current year appear at once, so you get a stack on the first day and the archive has material in December. The Goodreads export guide walks through the steps.
How do notifications fit in?
Each of the three has an optional local notification: the ledger on Sunday at 18:00, the stack on the last day of the month, and the archive on December 1. There is a switch for each in Settings, Reminders. The app sends at most one notification a day, and when two are due the ledger, stack or archive replaces the daily reminder.
Nothing here comes from a server. Notifications are scheduled on the iPhone, which is why they keep working in airplane mode.
Frequently asked questions
When does the ledger print?
Sunday at 18:00 local time, if you enabled the Sunday ledger notification. You can also open the current week any time.
Can I leave a book out of my stack?
Yes. Choose books hides a title from the stack and the archive, and shares show only what is visible.
Does the archive need an account?
No. It is built on your iPhone from your logs and stubs.
What if I did not read much this week?
The ledger prints what you did, with rest days marked. There is no behind state and no comparison to a goal.
