Bookstub support
Most questions have a short answer below: how to add a book, how to bring a Goodreads or StoryGraph library, how streaks and rest days work, where your data lives, how to back it up and how purchases are restored. Bookstub is still in development, so there is no App Store page to contact yet.
Coming soon to iPhone
How do I contact support?
Bookstub is not released yet. When it reaches the App Store, use the App Support link on its page. There is no contact form on this site.
Where can I read how the app handles data?
The privacy policy names every place data goes, and the terms cover the license and the Pass.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a book?
Tap the dashed Next read slot or the plus in Add a book, then search by title, author or ISBN, scan the barcode, or add it by hand. Adding by hand works offline.
The catalog has the wrong page count or no result. What now?
Add the book by hand with its real page count, or fix the total on the log sheet. Catalog data comes from Google Books or Open Library and can contain errors. Searches for books outside English can come up short, and manual add is always available.
How do I move my Goodreads or StoryGraph library?
Export a CSV file on the service's website in Safari, save it to Files, then open Settings, Import from Goodreads or StoryGraph, and pick the file. You see a preview before anything is added.
I forgot to log yesterday. Can I fix it?
Yes, until 12:00 local time. Open the log sheet and choose For yesterday. The day is marked as filed late and counts for your streak.
How do rest days work?
You earn one for every seven reading days and can keep three. A missed day uses one automatically. Rest days cannot be bought.
Where is my data stored, and can I back it up?
On your iPhone, encrypted with a key in the iOS Keychain. In Settings, Backup and export, save a backup file through the share sheet. Importing a backup restores it, and CSV export is part of Pass.
How do I restore my Bookstub Pass?
Open Settings and tap Restore purchases while signed in with the Apple ID you bought with. If nothing is found, the app says there is nothing to restore for that Apple ID.
How do I cancel the subscription?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Bookstub. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. Bookstub also has a Manage subscription row.
How do I delete everything?
Settings, Delete all data. It erases books, logs, lines, stubs and pacts, plus the encryption key, the search cache and scheduled reminders. The Pass stays with your Apple ID.
Which languages does Bookstub support?
English and Russian. Settings lets you choose System, English or Russian.
